About

ABOUT ME

I am passionate about supporting parents in pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. As a parent of two myself, I have experienced parenthood's unique challenges and rewards. I recognize the toll parenthood can take on mental health. I strive to support you through life's ups and downs as you navigate each new stage of parenting.

I take a collaborative approach to therapy that focuses on your journey, values, strengths, and goals. I foster self-care and self-compassion in parenthood. I create safe and non-judgmental therapeutic relationships that understand you in the context of your unique experiences. I take an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practice approach. I am forever learning and welcome your feedback and input.

When I am not working you will find me enjoying time outside, gratefully within the territory of the Snuneymuxw people and chasing after my two boys.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your fees?

My individual virtual counselling and walk & talk therapy fees are $135/50 minutes. To support perinatal mental health accessibility, I have sliding scale spots available for all services. Please email to request a sliding scale rate. I accept payment through JaneApp (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).

Do you direct bill my insurance provider?

I am able to direct bill some insurance providers via Telus eClaims (Alberta Blue Cross, BPA, C.C.W.U, CINUP, Canada Life, Chambers of Commerce, Coughlin & Associates, D.A. Townley, Desjardins, Equitable Life of Canada, First Canadian Health, Green Shield Canada, Industrial Alliance, La Capitale/Beneva, Maximum Benefit, People Corporation, RWAM, TELUS AdjudiCare, UV Insurance, Union Benefits), and Medavie Blue Cross. Please email or book a 15 minute consult for further information on direct billing options. After each session you will receive an electronic invoice by email that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement if needed. Some group therapy may be coved by extended health benefits.

What about taxes?

RSWs are exempt from having to collect GST or HST on certain services as defined by the Canadian Revenue Agency Exempt Services Tax Act. Registered Social Workers are authorized as ‘medical practitioners’ under the Income Tax Act for the purpose of claiming medical expenses on income tax returns. Under the METC, the federal government gives a non-refundable credit on allowable medical expenses. Please consult a tax professional for more information.

What is virtual counselling like?

Virtual counselling is much like in-person counselling and is offered through JaneApp. Virtual counselling with both audio/video enabled can be more flexible and convenient while done in the comfort of your own home. This option can be especially appealing to new parents trying to fit in time for counselling. You can use a laptop, tablet or phone for your appointment. If you find that virtual counselling is not meeting your needs I also offer walk & talk therapy.
